On August 27, 2024, over 300 guests were present at the banquet hall of the Hilton Hotel in Yaoundé to attend the official launching of The Mercy Azoh-Mbi Heart Foundation in Cameroon The event was organized under the high patronage of the Prime Minister, head of government, Joseph Dion Ngute who was flanked by other dignitaries, including H.E. Felix Mbayu, Minister in Charge of the Commonwealth; Prof. Fuh Calistus Gentry, Acting Minister of Mines, Industry and Technological Development. This ceremony was combined with a book launch of “Miracle of Mercy”. In his remarks during the ceremony, PM Dion Ngute said with the advent of the Foundation, people will be educated on how to take good care of their hearts so as to prevent cardiovascular diseases.
His Excellency Solomon Azoh-Mbi, the Board Chair of the Foundation, expressed gratitude to all the personalities who answered present and to all those who supported the Foundation with donations. He expressed satisfaction with the fact that his greatest desire, which was to launch the foundation his wife fought to build but was taken by the cold hands of death, finally came to pass.
Meanwhile, the Cameroon country manager of the Foundation, Dr Grace Mbambole Alake, in her welcome remarks appreciated the efforts of all present to witness the ceremony. She said their duty as part of this humanitarian NGO in Cameroon is to sensitize the population on healthy habits for a healthy heart.
Paul T. Ayah, CEO of the Mercy Azoh-Mbi Heart Foundation and co-author of “Miracle of Mercy”, told the story of how he meticulously went about writing the book, gathering information from various perspectives. Paul Ayah said the Foundation was registered in Canada in 2018 and in Cameroon in 2023. He talked about the diversity of the board of directors, revealing that three members of the Medical Advisory Board were surgeons who operated on Mercy Azoh- Mbi.
Organisers thanked invitees for supporting the launch through buying the book and free donations.
