On Saturday, May 31, 2025, The Mercy Azoh-Mbi Heart Foundation conducted its monthly sensitization and screening campaign at the Salvation Baptist Church in Obili, Yaoundé. This event commemorated World Hypertension Day, with the theme “Measure your blood pressure accurately, Control it and Live Longer”

A Word from Mercy

In 2009, at the age of 37, heart disease radically crippled me, mutilated me, and transformed me into a completely dependent, almost hopeless woman. I deeply mourned the loss of my four limbs for years, but gradually I began to appreciate the gift of life itself. I became aware that heart disease is a major global public health challenge, especially in developing countries, and that it is responsible for one-third of all deaths worldwide. Moreover, many people die without fighting for their lives. I believe that my experience could be a catalyst and testimony in the face of this enormous health challenge.

Establish and coordinate a network of cardiologists and cardiac institutes across the world willing to sponsor or provide free heart-related health services to underprivileged populations.

Heart Health Centres & Clinics
Promote community-based support centres for heart health in order to foster awareness and action in preventing cardiovascular diseases.

Capacity Building
Strengthen the capacity of medical institutions and practitioners in developing countries to improve their ability to diagnose and treat heart conditions.

Research Funding
Provide support to medical students and researchers in developing countries in order to foster research in cardiac care.
